October Favorites

Hey Everyone!

Check me out!!! Right on time! I even planed ahead and am writing this a week early so that I can have it ready! Improvements!! October was a month of a lot realizations and changes. I have been really trying to focus on making actual changes for the benefit of my mental health. I finally feel like I am getting back to my grind and finally getting back into my interests. This month I definitely want to write some posts about what things have helped me feel better. This year is hard and it is ok to take time off from things or change things about your life. No one chooses to struggle with their mental health and I really believe that if I want to be as real with you guys as I like to be, that includes everything! Anyways, I am so excited to dive into my favorite for the month and share with you somethings that have made my life a little lighter!

Wearing

I have been using bluelight glassed for a while now and I think that they are awesome and definitely work wonders for your eyes. However I recently broke my glasses (I sat on them lol), so I had to get some new ones and the glasses I got are so great! They are so much lighter on my face and they are more of a rounder lens. The link to check them out is right here!

Another thing I have gotten recently that I am obsessed with is a dupe of the Christian Dior Friendship Bracelet. The original one is almost $500 and ya girl just does not have the funds for that at the moment. But, I found one on Etsy which made me feel a lot better because I was supporting a small business and getting it at a cheaper price. I got mine in a light pink with white stitching and it looks just like the originals. It is a cute but casual addition to literally any outfit ( I literally wear it with my biker shorts and oversized tee). The link to it is right here!

My last thing I have for this month is my cropped black flair jeans! I got these from Nordstrom Rack so I can't link them anymore, but you can find this trend at a lot of places. The best part about these pants was the price! The brand of jean is 7 For All Mankind and they were originally $285 and I got them for $30!!! Are you kidding me?!? These are also the easiest thing to style because it is just like styling any pair of black jeans- you can just see your shoes a lot more.

Listening

A lot of my music has been all over the place- as it usually is. I am a pretty dedicated listener to Spotify's Top Hits Playlist and have a very basic day-to-day music taste. But I have started playing jazz music in the morning while I get ready and honestly it is such a vibe. It is not as intense and still something to listen to while I get things done. I also like listening to it when I am writing because it gives me peaceful background noise. My go-to for jazz is the "Cozy Oldies: Fall Jazz" Playlist on Spotify. It has songs pertaining to fall, so it just feels right by me. Also you just get to feel really elegant while you do mundane tasks and it gives you a reason to spice up your life.

JUSTIN FREAKIN BIEBER. That man is such an icon and he has released some very real music. I have been playing that man's two biggest releases: HOLY and Lonely on loop. Two very different vibes for sure. One is more fun and up beat and one it more a "crying song", but still- bops nonetheless.

One of my favorite quarantine finds is a food and health influencer called "Freckled Foodie". She is primarily active on Instagram and shows her life unfiltered where she talks about diet culture, her struggles with mental health, and how to make good, healthy foods. She also has a podcast, "Freckled Foodie and Friends" where she brings on guests to help her cover similar products. I love listening to them because they are industry professionals talking about real things that I am interested in. I have really discovered the value of holistic healthy living and have loved diving into accounts like these.

Beauty

One thing that I have added to my skin care routine is the Super Pure Serum from Glossier. This Serum has niacinamide and zinc in it to clarify and hydrate your skin. I have noticed the most difference in the texture of my skin. In general I have noticed an improvement in my skin in the last couple of months (probably because I do not wear make up or eat as much processed foods and also drink a ton of water), but this has been the icing on the cake!! The link to check out this serum is here!

Another thing that has been a game changer is my Exfoliating Body Wash Glove I literally got from Target. I have noticed that since I started working out more I have been having a lot more bumps on my back and realizing the value of really washing my body after each workout. I got this glove to exfoliate the dead skin off that could potentially clog my pores and to also enhance the effectiveness of my body wash. Already I am noticing the my skin is more smooth which was the goal! The link to check the glove is here!

The last thing I have been doing (which might be a little weird to some of you) is not brushing my hair when I get out of the shower. I have always had very naturally straight hair and nothing will change that, but I tried to test it out one day by not brushing my hair but just towel drying it, followed by air drying it. I noticed that it detangled itself and still dried straight with some strands that were wavy. Since that "experiment" I have pretty much foregone brushing my hair after showering because it decrease breakage in my hair and it makes getting ready a lot quicker!

Doing

Probably one of the biggest, most positive changes I have instilled is journaling every morning and night. I have been trying to get into journaling for a long time because I have heard so many positive things about it from different sources but never knew what to write about. I found the Five Minute Journal on Amazon and bought it to try it out since it seemed like an easier way to journal more consistently with prompts given to you. I can already tell such a difference and love being able to reflect on things that I am grateful for, things that went well that day, and even think about how to make the next day even better. It is seriously given me such a change in mindset and would definitely recommend this purchase. You can check out the Five Minute Journal here!

I have always loved lighting candles for their scents and their nonintimidating light. It is a simple thing that truly makes me happy. This past month a found a candle my best friend gave me for my birthday and I have been lighting it in my room every morning while I get ready and as I do my night time journaling. It is a little things that I look forward to and those are the changes I have been making in my life recently and couldn't be more happy about it!

Emily in Paris. Some people loved it; some people hated it. I personally loved it.  I loved the clothes, the cast, the sights of Paris. I watched it all in a day and a half ( I could have finished it in one day but I had other things to do). If you haven't watched it yet, you might as well because it is such a light show that has a pretty engaging plot and the hottest male lead I've seen since Harry Styles and Dylan O'Brien.

The last thing that I have been doing almost everyday is JABS! Now I know that I mentioned this is my previous favorites post, but it has been just as incredible as last month! Plus we have gotten two new instructors that are insane and have only enhanced the already incredible programming! If you are at all interested in checking it out, you can sign up here!

What are somethings you have loved this past month?

Stay UNIQUE,

Sara Anne
