The flip flop.
A shoe we have grown up with. Probably one of the only shoes that offers sizes from a new born to a men's professional basketball player, but in terms of fashion, it is more viewed as functional than fabulous.
UNTIL. THIS. SUMMER.
Yes, I am sure that these types of flip flops have existed before this summer season, but they have not been as big as they are now. Personally, I have a very specific view on flip flops. I feel that for the most part, they are reserved for the pool, the beach, and freshman college dorm showers, but all that has changed after seeing the rise of a fancier flip flop fad. These shoes are made up of a low heel, cute colors, trending textiles, and geometric features. When thinking about the summer shoe, the flip flop upgrade has got to be at the top of my list (despite my previous opinions- people can change!!) Today I will be showing you all some of my favorite finds and the outfits to go with it. I do realized that this can be a stretch for some people, but seeing how it is used with clothes that may be in your closet right now can make it less intimidating!!

Boho Beach
Neutrals are your best friend when trying out a trend for the first time! And with tan being one of the colors for the summer, the starts couldn't be more aligned. A linen set creates an easy going, fresh look to contrast the heeled shoe. Now lets shop the look!
Summer Playdate
Kendall Jenner poses for Vogue sporting this trend. The sundress/sandal combo is a tale as old as time and a natural go to when first trying out this look. Also with the easy a sundress brings to an outfit, it takes the pressure off of you. Let the clothes speak for themselves. Now lets shop the look!
WFH Functional
Of course, as much as we would like to be on vacation mode for months on end. Work still needs to get done. Whether that is your literal 9 to 5 job, or you are like me and have your own ~interpretation~ of what work means to you during these pandemic, economic recession times- summer is a mindset that you can live in even behind a computer. For those days of productivity and professionalism, my go to is sleek and sharp (ie. black and white). Now lets shop the look!
Euro Chic
It is no lie that European fashion, specifically from France and Italy, are huge influences in American fashion today. They set the tone and we follow their lead. Vintage Europe has become an aesthetic of the times and fits in perfectly with every American trend (probably because they are the ones who did it first!!). Now lets shop the look!

What are some ways you would style these strappy summer shoes?
