2021 Trends That I am Looking Forward To

Another year brings us to another trend forecast. Honestly I still feel like 2021 has been a better than 2020 because 2020 taught us (well me at least) to be flexible and not be surprised by the unexpected. That applies to fashion too. 2020 taught fashion people to  (as Tim Gun famously said) make  it work! Fashion has risen above the hard times and is something people rely on now more than ever because it gives people a sense of belonging and comfort. With that being said, these trends I will be talking about today are anything but ordinary. We have let our creativity run wild in this pandemic and now we wear it! I hope you all enjoy and this post and that it gives you something to look forward to this year!

Asymmetrical Neckline

The neckline is the next best thing to come to the fashion world. This sexy adaptation of any top or sweater is dominating and creating an unforgettable look for all who wears it. A modern, empowering, design model creates endless possibilities for styling, offering cut options for every size and shapes. Here are some examples from Acne Studios and Sportmax.

Cowboy Boots

Not just cowboy boots- colorful cowboy boots. Fashion today takes something fundamental and levels up and that is exactly what you see here. You have heard of the minimalists, but these boots go the the side of maximalists with the stripes, the colors, the added accents. Whether knee high or ankle length, these shoes will have their shining moment in 2021 and I am always here for an upgrade. Here are some examples from Isabel Marant line.

Sorbet Pastels

Last fall it was jeweled tones and this spring it will be sorbet pastels. Obviously, pastels are a spring time essential, but now it will be updated to a more niche color palette. You can expect colors like baby bird blue, a light yellow and also a ballet slipper pink. I feel these colors look best on everyone, so have no fear! Here is an example from Versace and ICE Play.

Fringe Features

Spread your wings and fly with this fashion trend. Yet another embellishment to add to our closet, the feathers are everywhere from accessories to accent skirts. My favorite version of this trend is from the brand Daily Sleeper with their feather embellishment on the sleeve cuff of their pajama set. Here are some examples from Chanel and Badgley Mischka.

Unconventional Cut Outs

Similar to the asymmetrical neckline look, this trend is a sexy, modern way to update your wardrobe. The thing about this trend is that is does not stop at tops. It stretches to pants, skirts and even tights! We have all seen these looks on the runway before and will definitely be seeing them again. This is the trend that goes most outside of my comfort zone, so I am interested to see how I make it work for me! Here are some examples from Mario Dice and Bronx and Banco.

Knit Sets

One of the easiest ways to be fashionable is wearing a matching set. We saw this in the beginning of quarantine with the rise of the sweat suit when we were holding on to looking cute in the midst of comfort. This is essentially the same concept with a different textile. Over the past few years we have seen knits evolve from your grandma's sweater to the trendy "must-have". I am so excited to see where this trend goes and how it is interpreted in the future. Here is an example from Dolce and Gabbana and Simona Marziali.
